AJ1 Vandals
Sneaker Diorama: single Jordan 1, mixed media
Tier: Platinum
The debate ‘is graffiti art or vandalism?’ has always fascinated me. I have always loved the way that this form of self expression can transform a building into the most beautiful and passionate gallery that you have ever seen. In this piece, I wanted to encapsulate my love for street art, taking inspiration from graffitied buildings I had stopped to photograph in the past.
To authentically vandalise this piece, I asked for help from my Instagram community. I put up an Instagram story post and my followers sent in so many ideas. While there is a lot of me in this piece, there is also a lot of my community in it too. I feel like my work was leading up to this project for a while, to finally see it realised is a beautiful thing for me.
